Tales of an Arts Intern

I learned today that the fundamental standards by which education used to be measured are changing…for the better. Educators within the last few years have come to a greater understanding of how students learn and this has led to a shift toward a more integrated form of teaching. In addition teachers are now being held responsible for their own lesson plans and teaching approach. This not only allows students to develop far more acute critical thinking skills, it also caters to a number of different learning types.

I am in the process of conducting research for the arts council which will culminate in a final project detailing how arts education has changed and where we can possibly see it going in the future. This will help them better decide where to direct funds, and allow them to work with schools on continuing to develop innovative programs. I will regularly be…
